In a busy sports week for North Carolina, it almost went unmentioned that the 2012 Football schedule was released. It is Larry Fedora's first season as Head Coach of the team.

With Elon, Idaho, Louisville and East Carolina as out of conference opponents, it is not loaded with heavyweight College Football names. But the East Carolina game always creates a buzz and Louisville is a solid out of conference opponent. The Heels will travel to Louisville but entertain the Pirates at Kenan Stadium.

ACC opponents for North Carolina in 2012 include Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Duke, North Carolina State, Georgia Tech, Miami, Virginia and Maryland.

The Tar Heels finish with 2 out of their last 3 at home. Oddly, the Tar Heels finish with Georgia Tech, Virginia and Maryland. There is no Duke or N.C. State in their final game which underscores where rivalries have gone in College Football between conference realignment and the emphasis placed on rivalries in general.

7 out of the North Carolina 12 game will be played in Kenan Stadium including a three game home stand in midseason.

Here is a look at the schedule:
