North Carolina moves to 5-1 on the season defeating Louisville at Kenan Stadium on Saturday. Giovani Bernard rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown while Bryn Renner threw for 178 yards and a touchdown to lead the Tar Heels. Dwight Jones grabbed 4 catches for 91 yards and a touchdown on Saturday.

The Tar Heels got off to a slow start offensively having problems getting anything going in the first half. After a scoreless first half, North Carolina struck in the third quarter as Bernard took it in from 3 yards out with 7:11 in the quarter. With 12:19 in the 4th quarter, Renner found Dwight Jones for a 43 yard touchdown strike. Jones fought off tackles near the goal line to get in after making the catch.

Louisville scored late on a Teddy Bridgewater to Dominique Brown 18 yard pass play with 42 seconds left in the game. The Cardinals attempted an onside kick but the Tar Heels recovered and  ran out the clock. The Cardinals shot themselves in the foot much of the games racking up 78 yards of penalties.

It is the final non-conference game for the Tar Heels. They will host Miami from Kenan Stadium next Saturday that begins a stretch that includes games against Clemson, Wake Forest, N.C. State, Virginia Tech and Duke.
