Maria Lubrano scored at the 84 minute mark and Carolina held on to defeat Notre Dame 1-0 on Sunday. The game was played at Notre Dame, Indiana.

The 19th ranked Tar Heels who got off to a slow start in the season have now won two in a row winning a big road game.

Carolina out shot the Irish by a large margin at 18-3 but could not capitalize on their opportunities until Summer Green and Brooke Elby set up the game winning goal.

Despite the barrage of shots by the Tar Heels, Notre Dame goaltender Elyse Hight came up with 7 big saves but was unable to stop the Lubrano game winning shot.

With the win, Carolina took the Championship of the Notre Dame Adidas Invitational. Summer Green was named the Offensive Most Outstanding Player while Amber Brooks won Defensive Outstanding Player.

The Tar Heels move to 2-1-1 and will be in action next against Marquette on Friday from Durham.
