North Carolina's Men Soccer fell to Clemson 2-1, in overtime, on Tuesday. Ara Amirkhanian scored just 1:38 into the overtime period to seal the victory for the Tigers.
Carolina nearly came up with the game winner just seconds before the end of regulation. Jordan McCrary missed an open net when his shot sailed high.
Early on, Clemson had the momentum scoring early off of a penalty shot rebound. They built on that momentum but goal keeper, Brendan Moore kept the Tar Heels in the game. He came up with 7 saves on the night.
The Tar Heels obtained the equalizer at the 67 minute mark when Verneri Valimaa scored from twelve yards out.
Clemson out shot the Tar Heels 14-11 and held a 4-3 advantage on corner kicks on the night.
With the loss the 6th ranked Tar Heels fell to 3-2-5 on the season and are still looking for their first conference win after 5 ties before last nights conference loss.
North Carolina will be in action next from Newton, Mass., where they will meet Boston College at 7 p.m.
