After trailing at halftime, North Carolina finally took control of the game against a scrappy Long Beach State team and go on to victory, 84-78.

The Heels got a spark from Reggie Bullock off the bench to go along with Harrison Barnes, John Henson and Tyler Zeller and took the lead near midway through the second half and never gave it back. Bullock dropped in 3 shots during a run and his three point bucket with 11:06 to play put North Carolina ahead for good. He finished the game with 15 points.

John Henson led the Tar Heels in scoring with 24 on the game. He picked up 10 rebounds as well. Harrison Barnes had 20 while Tyler Zeller contributed 17 points and 9 rebounds. Kendall Marshall racked up 16 assists in the win.

North Carolina finished the game shooting 51 percent from the floor, and went 6 for 16 from three. The two teams finished even on the glass at 33 apiece. Carolina went 8 for 10 at the free throw line.

Long Beach State shot the ball well from behind the arch early but finished 7 for 21 from three for the game. Casper Ware led the 49ers with 29 points on the night. This is a team who defeated 9th ranked Pittsburgh on the road earlier in the season by 10. They gave North Carolina all it could handle through much of the game.

The Tar Heels move to 8-2 on the season and will next be in action next Saturday in the Smith Center against Appalachian State.
