It may have been the best performance of the season by the Tar Heels, who looked lackluster against Nicholls State on Monday. North Carolina defeated Texas 82-63 on Wednesday.

Carolina excelled in a number of categories and played a solid defensive game from start to finish. They held Texas to under 40% from the floor and behind the three point arch for the game. North Carolina won the rebound margin by a total of 46-31, including 19 offensive rebounds.

The Tar Heels, who have struggled from the free throw line recently, went 74% from the free throw line and shot 42% from the three point line.

Harrison Barnes led the way for Carolina scoring 26 points while pulling down 10 rebounds. John Henson chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds while Tyler Zeller grabbed 11 boards on the night. Kendall Marshall continued to rack up assists with 9 for the game while turning the ball over only twice. Reggie Bullock had 12 points off the bench.

Johnathan Holmes and J'Covan Brown led the Longhorns with 16 points each.

The game included some spectacular dunks by Dexter Strickland and P.J. Hairston that will make highlight films throughout the night.

The Tar Heels move to 12-2 on the season and are off until after Christmas when they next face Elon on December 29 at the Smith Center.
