Former Tar Heel Standout, Pete Brennan dies
Former Tar Heel star and member of the 1957 National Championship team, Pete Brennan, died at age 75 on Friday, reports say.
Brennan hit a crucial jumper in overtime against Michigan State in the 1957 semifinal which sent the game to a second overtime in a game they won in three overtimes. The Tar Heels went on to defeat Wilt Chamberlain and Kansas in 3 Overtimes in their next game.
Brennan's jersey hangs in the Rafters at the Smith Center.
Brennan's was drafted by the New York Knicks in 1958.
It is being reported that Brennan had been fighting cancer since diagnosed in April.
