The North Carolina Tar Heels will begin NCAA Tournament Field Hockey play on Saturday, hosting Delaware. Carolina, who have been national runners-up, the last three seasons, are a three seed in the 2013 Tournament.

UNC will host first and second round games at Henry Stadium. 

The Blue Hens defeated Liberty 1-0 in Wednesday's play in game. They bring a record of 16-4 into the contest.

North Carolina enters the tournament 16-5 after falling to top seed Maryland in the ACC Championships on Sunday. The Heels are led by Casey Di Nardo with 13 goals followed by Nina Notman's 12. Emily Wold leads the team with 31 total points.

The Atlantic Coast Conference claimed all 4 top seeds with Maryland, Syracuse, Duke and the Tar Heels. All seven ACC schools received bids to the tournament.

Its the 30th appearance by North Carolina who have claimed 6 National Championships in the sport.
