It was raining three's in Hawaii on Monday night as North Carolina went 15-32 from beyond the arch in route to a 96-49 victory over Mississippi State.

Leslie McDonald came off the bench with 6 three pointers while Reggie Bullock and P.J. Hairston both knocked down 4 three pointers. It was a welcome sight for the Tar Heels who need outside production from these three consistently this season.

McDonald led all Tar Heel starters with 21 points while Hairston poured in 18, both off of the Carolina bench.

The Heels out rebounded the Bulldogs by a 45 to 38 margin. They also held them to 28.3 percent shooting from the field and a dubious 2-17 from three pointers.

North Carolina wasted no time getting out of the gate, jumping out to a quick 9-0 lead and never looked back. They built a 49-17 halftime lead before finishing with the 47 point victory.

"We just had too many players for them..everybody started feeling good and the ball kept going in the basket," Coach Williams said after the game.

12 different Tar Heel players scratched the score sheet on Monday as only two players had more than 20 minutes of playing time in the game.

Carolina will face Butler in one of the semifinal games of the EA Sports Maui Invitational on Tuesday. The Bulldogs defeated Marquette on a buzzer beater earlier on Monday. Game time is 8pm. The second semifinal will pit Chaminade, who upset Texas, against Illinois who destroyed Southern Cal by 30 points.
