On a good day for UNC Soccer with the top ranked women's team winning, the Men's team defeated top ranked Louisville 2-1. The Heels got goals from Billy Schuler and Rob Lovejoy in the win. Schuler's game winning goal came at the 74 minute mark and propelled the 3rd ranked Tar Heels to victory. 

North Carolina gave up the first goal of the game to Nick Deleon of Louisville at the 33 minute mark but 5 minutes later, Lovejoy got the equalizer. Lovejoy was assisted by Carlos McCrary and Kirk Urso and found the net from 16 yards. Schuler came up with the game winner with a shot from the right of the net from 15 yards assisted by Enzo Martinez and Rob Lovejoy.

The Tar Heels will move into conference play against Virginia Tech on September 10 from Blacksburg, Virginia.
