It was an instant classic on Saturday night when Carolina met N.C. State on the Diamond in the ACC Baseball Tournament. The Wolfpack sent their ace and ACC Pitcher of the Year, Carlos Rodon to the mound knowing that a win puts them in the ACC Championship Game. The Tar Heels knowing that Miami had won earlier and earned the tiebreaker against them, were playing for NCAA Tournament seeding. What ensued was a classic pitchers duel and a Tar Heel victory, 4-0 in 12 innings.

Rodon threw 9 innings of scoreless ball, allowing only 4 hits. But Carolina countered with Benton Moss and the bullpen who allowed no runs and only 5 hits in what turned out to be a 12 inning game.

After neither team could push home a run, the game came down to the Tar Heel 12th where Colin Moran led things off with a single followed by hot hitting Jacob Stallings who singled as well. After Cody Stubbs was walked to load the bases with no outs, it was Adam Griffin who singled home the game winning run. Carolina added insurance as Mike Zolk, Parks Jordan and Chaz Frank all drove home runs in the 12th.

Michael Morin took care of the Pack in the bottom half of the inning earning the win and securing a 4-0 Tar Heel victory. Morin went 5 innings allowing only 1 hit during that stretch, winning his 6th ball game of the season.

Cody Stubbs had two hits in the game for North Carolina while Jake Fincher had a couple hits for the Wolfpack.

With the win, North Carolina moves to 44-14 on the season and will host a Regional in this week's NCAA Championships.
