North Carolina lost to Wake Forest on Saturday, 28-27. It was the first ACC  contest for new North Carolina coach Larry Fedora.

Carolina came out fast scoring on a 6 yard touchdown reception from Eric Ebron from Bryn Renner to take the early lead. But just before the first quarter ended, Tanner Price ran it in from 2 yards out for Wake Forest tying the game at 7.

The Tar Heels struck again early in the 2nd quarter, this time on an A.J. Blue 1 yard run. The Demon Deacons countered twice before halftime on DeAndre Martin and Josh Harris runs.

It looked like North Carolina had taken control coming out in the second half. They scored three consecutive times shutting out Wake Forest in the 3rd Quarter. Romar Morris tied the game up with a 4 yard rushing touchdown, followed by 2 Casey Barth field goals and North Carolina led 27-21 with 12:50 left in the game.

But Tanner Price led Wake down the field on an 11 play 93 yard drive and scored on a 1 yard run with 2:09 left in the game to take a 28-27 lead that North Carolina was unable to counter.

Price threw for 327 yards in the game. Bryn Renner threw for 271 yards and a touchdown and A.J. Blue rushed for 106  yards and a touchdown starting for an injured Giovani Bernard.

The Tar Heels fall to 1-1 on the season, losing their first conference game.
