Top ranked North Carolina and 4th ranked Notre Dame met in South Bend, Indiana in Men's Soccer on Sunday. After two periods and two overtimes, the game finished in a 1-1 tie.
Carolina struck first in the game when Tyler Engel scored at the 17 minute mark on an unassisted goal.
The game remained 1-0 in UNC's favor until Leon Brown came up with the equalizer at the 78 minute point.
The Fighting Irish out shot the Heels 21-12 and had more shots on goal in front of the home crowd. Brendan Moore came up with 7 saves in net for Carolina.
North Carolina had the momentum in the first half but Notre Dame quickly turned that around in the second becoming much more aggressive.
The game was played in front of over 2000 at Notre Dame. The Heels will start conference play with a record of 2-0-1. They will meet Maryland on Friday in Chapel Hill.
