Its officially Summer and things have slowed down for the break on campus. However, we are less than 3 months away from the Larry Fedora era with Carolina football. There are some tidbits floating around in the Tar Heel World of Sports, here are a few things going on.

NBA Draft

The first round of the upcoming NBA draft will be littered with Tar Heels. John Henson, Harrison Barnes, Tyler Zeller and Kendall Marshall are working out for NBA teams. ESPN has Harrison Barnes ranked 6th overall in the upcoming draft. Barnes has been projected anywhere from 3 to 6. Most mock drafts have the trio of Henson, Marshall and Zeller going in the range of 10-16.

Interestingly, Athlon Sports projects the Charlotte Bobcats will take Harrison Barnes. Will Michael Jordan opt to go with Carolina Family at the number 2 pick?

Speaking of John Henson, in response to a billboard by N.C. State which simply said, "Our State", Henson tweeted: LOL..(Carolina was undefeated against the Wolfpack in his three seasons at Carolina.

Carolina Family

As is tradition, former Carolina players return to campus during the summer for pickup games and to help with Roy Williams' camp. It is one of the things that keeps Carolina a Family. We have seen the likes of James Worthy, Jeff Lebo, Jerry Stackhouse, Danny Green, Deon Thompson, Marcus Ginyard, David Noel, Marvin Williams, Jawad Williams and Quentin Thomas on campus this week.

This photo was tweeted by Danny Green.

It is a credit to all the current and former players who keep this tradition alive. Carolina really is a Family unlike any other. You can give credit to the great Dean Smith for creating a true Family atmosphere that has lived on and will continue to do so for years to come.

North Carolina football scored another in-state recruit in Robert Dinkins from Charlotte. Dinkins is a 6'2", 235 lb outside linebacker/Defensive End. He is the second commitment in the Class of 2014 for Larry Fedora.

Jarran Reed committed to UNC as a 2013 JuCo Transfer. Reed is a 6'4" 305 lb defensive tackle who runs a 4.97 40 yard dash and possesses a 24 inch vertical leap.
