After losing to St. John's on Saturday, Carolina found themselves in the losers bracket needing three wins to get out of the Chapel Hill Regional. On Sunday, they took the first step defeating East Carolina 5-3.

It was Michael Morin, who gave up a walk off homer on Saturday, sealing the victory for his 19th save of the season. Benton Moss had a solid outing going 6 innings, allowing only 1 earned run.

Carolina held a 1 run lead on a couple of occasions but a three run 7th inning opened things up. East Carolina chipped away in the 8th and 9th with a run in each inning before Morin and the Tar Heels locked down the victory.

Mike Zolk drove in 2 runs to lead the Tar Heels on Sunday while Jacob Stallings, Cody Stubbs and Brian Holberton each drove in a run.

North Carolina was only able to come up with 5 hits in the game, half of what East Carolina produced, but it was enough to win and keeps the Tar Heels alive.

Carolina cannot rest on their win for long, however. They face St. John's this evening at 6pm. They need two victories against the Red Storm while St. John's only need one.

If North Carolina can come up with the win tonight, a decisive game will be played on Monday to determine who advances from the Chapel Hill Regional.
