The Carolina Tennis teams go into the ACC Championships in good positions. The Men finished tied for second with Duke at 9-2 in the conference. The Women finished second at 10-1 in the ACC. The Championships will be in Cary, N.C. and both teams will be in action starting on Friday.
The Women enter post season ranked 5th in the Country. They finished the regular season with a 4-0 win against Boston College and won 15 out of their last 16 matches. Their only loss came at the hands of top seed, Duke last week. The Blue Devils are third ranked in the Nation. Carolina received a bye and will meet the winner of the Florida State-Virginia Tech match at noon on Friday. The Tar Heels are led by #37 Zoe De Bruycker in singles.
The Men fell to Maryland 5-2 in College Park over the weekend, ending a 5 match win streak. But Carolina comes into the tournament having won 9 out of their last 11 matches. They are ranked 18th in the Country. They, like the Women, received a bye and will await the winner of the Clemson-Wake Forest match at noon on Friday. The Men are led by junior, Jose Hernandez who won the final ACC Player of the Week of the regular season. Hernandez is 33rd ranked in the nation.
