UNC continues Field Hockey Roll
The Top Ranked Tar Heel field hockey team picked up two wins last week. They defeated Old Dominion at home on Friday and notched an ACC victory over Wake Forest on Sunday.
Against Old Dominion in Chapel Hill, Carolina went up 3-1 and held on for a 3-2 victory. Samantha Travers, J. Gaudioso Radvany and Charlotte Craddock all scored in the game.
It was an even battle as Carolina edged out Old Dominion in shots 15-13 and penalty corners 8-6 in route to the victory.
On Sunday, Carolina traveled to Winston-Salem to face Wake. Charlotte Craddock scored twice giving them a 2-0 lead. The Heels held the shut out intact until the 66 minute mark when Anna Kozniuk scored for the Deacons. The Tar heels out shot the Deacs 18-6 in the game and held a 10-3 edge in penalty corners.
North Carolina will face rival Duke on Friday.
Carolina split matches over the weekend, winning against Ohio and falling to N.C. State in Raleigh. Carolina is 9-2 on the season with matches coming up with Wake Forest and Duke this weekend from Chapel Hill
Carolina finished second in the Tar Heel Intercollegiate. Duke finished first in the event while Charlotte finished third. Michael McGown led the Tar Heels with a 4 under par 212 for the event.
Swimming and Diving
Carolina swept the Pier to Pier Championships over the weekend as Dan O'Connor won the Men's event while Kelsey Cumming won the Women's. The event is an open water event from Wrightsville Beach, N.C. that is an open event and approximately a two mile swim.
