The Tar Heels Women's Soccer team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament by defeating Radord 2-0 on Sunday.
In what was a scoreless first half, Carolina burst out with 2 goals in the second half to defeat the Big South Champions. Amber Brooks and Crystal Dunn scored the goals. Brooks' goal came at the 57 minute mark as she was set up by Summer Green. Dunn added insurance with an assist by Alyssa Rich.
The Tar Heels, who are seeded 2nd in their region, will move on to face Illinois on Friday.
Carolina out shot the Highlanders 29-3 and had 13 corner kicks to Radford's 0.
Che Brown was solid in the goal for Radford coming up with 11 saves and held off the attacking Tar Heels for nearly 58 minutes. But it was North Carolina coming up with the goals to advance in the tournament.
Carolina stays in Chapel Hill to host the regional and will face the Illini from Fetzer Field on Friday. The game starts at 6:30pm. In the first regional game at Fetzer, Baylor will face Georgetown. That game starts at 4pm.
