The North Carolina Tar Heel Volleyball team had a successful weekend defeating Notre Dame, San Francisco and Middle Tennessee State.
The Heels defeated Notre Dame 3-0 on Friday then took care of San Francisco 3-1 and Middle Tennessee State 3-0, on Saturday. The games were played in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Leigh Andrew had 11 kills and 8 digs to lead Carolina in the sweep of Notre Dame.
On Saturday, after losing the first set to San Francisco, the Tar Heels came back to win the next three in route to the win. Lauren Adkins had 15 kills while Ece Taner had 20 digs in the game.
North Carolina finished off the weekend in Tennessee by defeating the home Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders in a sweep. Jovana Bjelica had 12 kills in the nightcap to lead the Heels to victory.
With the victory's on Saturday, Carolina won the Blue Raider Bash Championship.
North Carolina was not in the Top 25 national rankings last week, they were the second in others receiving votes. But with the successful weekend, they are well on their way to breaking into the top 25. They will be back in action on Friday from Dayton, Ohio where they will participate in the Ohio Invitational with Dayton, Ohio University and Cincinnati. They meet Dayton and Ohio back to back on Friday night.
